day 6 - into Dusky

It was an early start to the day. We needed to get from Alex to Te Anau by 8.30am (upwards of a 3 hour drive) to catch the helicopter into fiordland.

We Followed Burn and Marty on the drive down

Here are the 10 of us who were going on the boat with our chopper - we went in in two loads

The 40 min flight was absolutely mind blowing...

Felix and I in the front!!

Here is a vid to give you a look at what it was like - take note of my awesome video editing at the end - I think they should get me to work on The Hobbit :P

Ok well maybe I'm not up to a feature film yet... but I try!

Richard posing with a stag shot by the previous group (little did he know this single act cursed the luck for him, Nick and Marty - sorry to say we didn't get any venison)

The chopper about to leave us on the Uni - the boat which is used as the choppers base in Breaksea Sound

Taking in the mists of fiordland on the top of our boat - the Totoku

Si caught the first Blue Cod!

The Sandflies were ready and waiting - thankfully they seemed to prefer the soft white skin of Marty and Sarah :)

Mollymauk landing on the water - they are a small albatross which are quite common down south and cool to watch. Over the days I think everyone got very sick of me getting excited when we saw yet more of these birds (which were pretty much everywhere) but I think they are so cool and didn't care what they thought!!

Looking into the boat - Burn seems to be getting some food ready... we ate VERY well!

View of the Totoku from a kayaking trip

It was a good first day - fresh fish and crays, lots of stunning mountains shrouded in mist and even the odd mollymauk to keep me happy :)
