day 4 - Wine and Queenstown

Wine tasting time!!!

Si and I headed off south, towards Queenstown and stopped off at some wineries on the way...

The first stop was one I didn't want to miss: Peregrine

They keep the barrels of Pinot at 14 Deg.

As I was the driver Simon did most of the actual tasting - I just tried the best bits...

Most of the Pinot grapes were still covered this far south (they had all been picked further north)

The next stop was Chard Farm - their drive was very cool (the road along the escarpment to the right of the pic)

Simon drinking yet more free wine

Then on to Queenstown and we headed straight up the GondolaView from the top - pretty nice day I guess :P

Then, as Danny worked out a few weeks ago, we went on the 800m luge

Si was in front of me

Look it's us!

We had time for a (quick) coffee and some cake (love the CAKE) at the top, and then we had to head back down and shot back up to Alex - that night there was a dinner for everyone was wasn't able to come to the wedding (due to size constraints) and I didn't want to be too late!

This is what happens when Si and I have too much wine...

Back in Alex the party was in full swing - Chris threw her bouquet and the single girls had a good fight for it!
And as a display of why I wanted to borrow Ritchies camera with it's awesome 20x zoom lens - here is the moon that night

The next day we were off to Dunners to see the Yellow Eyed Penguins and the Royal Albatross - YAY!

  1. What's the camera with the 20x zoom? I'm looking at upgrading my ailing A630 to a SX10IS with its 20x optical zoom...

  2. Yus!! I win!!

Hahaha... looks like you had an awesome time, I'm jealous. I love Queenstown, well, except for the dirty old men hiding in the Botanic Gardens bushes being dirty when you're trying to have a romantic picnic. But otherwise, it's lovely ;)

  3. Andrew - the camera is a Canon PowerShot SX10IS

Danny - when were you being romantic in Queenstown?! I'm intrigued!
