Thanks to EJ for coming along and being my gate bitch, more than just a pretty face ;)

Lots of wading and fishing about, and lots of water birds too :) I took a few samples with my net to see what inverts are in there, and I'll check those out under a microscope within the next few days! This was just a reconnaissance mission to scope out the site where I'll be doing my thesis next year.

The original Rat Look

What is the 'rat look' I hear you ask?!
Well, today I was at Lanes (my mechanic) doing an oil and oil filter change, and he had caught a rat in a trap. In car circles, the rat look is what you call it when you make a car look really crap on purpose! like this:


note the nice mags on the beetle - is all about mixing old rust with new bits of car, very artistic!

Trout eradication trial

I've just had 4 full on days at Karori Sanctuary, helping out with a trial to remove brown trout from one of the streams, using a low pH.

Even though after the first day the weather was CRAP, I had a great time, met some cool people and learned HEAPS!

Electro fishing - we got about 150 small trout, one big one, and a few koura too!

Well I've got a new toy!

It does have a point though - the idea is that because it's got a really decent 5 megapixel camera, I'll be able to take more pics as I'll always have a camera on me, so I'll have more pics for my blog - yay for you!
